Plate camera bits and pieces, and Adelaide Camera Markets

Ground glass and lens are the first two steps for the project, so let’s get ta’ thinking
A year ago I would have suggested [Satin Snow] for ground glass – but they are no longer taking orders, and I’m still waiting for the screen for my speed graphic. It’s been nearly a year. Sad to see them go, but [GVB Groundglass] of Belgium seems to do a good job, and they sell some film in whole-plate size to boot. I’ll order a whole-plate glass when I have the money, and that’s a step taken care of.

Coming up soon is the Adelaide Camera Markets, and I’m hoping I might be able to find an old brass portrait lens. The shutter isnt a major concern for me just yet, as with real slow emulsions (and thus real long exposure times), a lens cap works just as well. If I do need a shutter eventually, I’m sure I can purchase one in an appropriate size, or consult [S.K. Grimes].

But come along to the markets, this is my first year but I’ve heard plenty of good things. Details are:
Sunday, 18th of may.
9AM-2:30PM
St. Peters town hall,
101 Paynham road, St. Peters
$5 Admission

Credit to [Miffy] for getting me the details. Check out her photos, I will it.
