My Darkroom

Well I’ve been cleaning up my darkroom in my spare time, and it’s kinda needed it. Since I’ve been at university it’s fallen into disuse, and lack of air circulation has led to some interesting stuff growing on my wooden print tongs, among other things…moisture and a closed space isn’t good for any photographic equipment, so air flow is something I’ll have to take care of. Fungus and mold will drive you mad. Keeping in mind it’s eventually going to be used by my parents as a storeroom for produce from the orchard and garden, I’ll have to come up with something.

But, enjoy some pictures of my home darkroom.

I moved my Beseler 4×5″ enlarger back inside since the computerised colour head has lost the plot and is pretty useless for printing now. I’m looking at a new light source, but in the mean time my LPL 7700 has always done a lovely job. Glass negative carriers aren’t my favorite, but it works a charm.

Ilfolab 2150RC print processor, without the print dryer. In need of some attention, but was apparently in working order when purchased. Pickup only eBay auctions are my favorite.

Automatic roll paper cutter. Cost me $1, works fine. Need an roll of paper to use with it, but it’ll cut a sheet however long you want, automatically, and repeat. Apparently previously used to cut a stack of 8×10″ sheets on the cheap. Takes 8″ wide and smaller. Ilford still sell rolls of MGIV, so I’ll pounce on that when I have the money.

Doop doop chemical shelf

Old paper, came with the LPL 7700. I’m curious about the Agfa and Kodak papers.

“Stuff”. People wont tell you this but a kettle comes in handy pretty much all the time in a darkroom.

My extraction fan for the sink when I do printing. My mum worries.

You see, you have extraction. and it properly closes…. I have a curtain for a door (but its in a large dark shed with a matress on the window (previously used for band practice room)) and no airflow…

but remember… its all flooded now and smells like greywater. ugh
